Nutrient Neutrality Eases in River Camel Catchment Following WwTW Upgrades
Following the confirmation of upgrades to Wastewater Treatment Works (WwTWs) in nutrient-sensitive catchment areas (under the Water Industry Act 1991), alongside additional improvements as part of the wider PR24 Water Industry National Environment Programme (WINEP), there will be notable improvements to water quality in the River Camel.
As a result, these forthcoming upgrades to water infrastructure, which are securing improvements in water quality, have led to a reduction in the area covered by nutrient neutrality advice.
We draw your attention to four catchment areas that are no longer subject to Nutrient Neutrality: Blisland, Bodmin (Nanstallon), Bodmin (Scarletts Well), and St Breward.
This is positive news for developers, as it will help facilitate a range of developments in sustainable locations, including affordable housing schemes.
We now await further updates on potential changes affecting nearby settlements, such as Camelford.
