One Year On: Supporting Healthcare Infrastructure at St Austell Community Hospital
In 2024, Situ8 was proud to support Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust in securing planning permission for a major development at St Austell Community Hospital. The £15 million Elective Surgical Hub, delivered with the help of our planning and stakeholder engagement expertise, was officially opened in October 2024.
The new facility provides capacity for an additional 5,000 day-case procedures each year, significantly reducing waiting times and easing pressure on NHS services across Cornwall. The centre includes:
Two state-of-the-art operating theatres
Four recovery bays
Six pre-operative assessment rooms
Welcoming reception and waiting areas
Our team played a crucial role in guiding the application through the planning system, preparing the required planning documentation, and coordinating engagement with key stakeholders including Cornwall Council, local MPs and healthcare partners. By aligning operational requirements with planning policy and community considerations, we helped deliver a smooth and timely approval.
One year on, the Elective Surgical Hub is fully operational and already making a positive difference for patients across the region. This project is a strong example of situ8’s commitment to supporting essential healthcare infrastructure and our ability to navigate complex, high-profile planning challenges.
If your organisation is delivering health, community or public sector projects, our team is here to help you move forward with confidence.
