Planning Success for a Historic Mill, Cornwall

We are delighted to have secured planning permission for the sensitive adaptation and extension of a historic mill in Cornwall, working in close collaboration with Simon Kaufman Architects.

This was a particularly rewarding and technically complex project, requiring a careful balance between modern family living and the conservation of a significant piece of the county’s industrial heritage — complete with its original water wheel still in place.

The approved proposals will:

  • restore and repair traditional slate and stonework

  • enhance the building’s sustainability and energy performance

  • create a high-quality contemporary home

  • respect the historic fabric of the mill

  • integrate sensitively within the surrounding Cornwall National Landscape (AONB)

Projects like this demonstrate the value of thoughtful, design-led planning that protects historic character while supporting the building’s long-term future. We’re proud to have played a part in enabling this unique property to continue its story.
