Pebble House, Mevagissey

Following a refusal from a different consultant for the redevelopment of their guest house in the harbour town of Mevagissey, the clients approached Situ8 and instructed us to submit a fresh application on their behalf. The property was located in both an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and a designated Heritage Coast. The clients’ vision was to extend and remodel the existing property to provide an enlarged, contemporary guest house with separate owners’ accommodation.

We worked closely with a Planning Officer to agree on an acceptable design, before instructing Inhaus Designs, a locally-based architectural design practice, to develop a final proposal for a 2-and-a-half storey guest house designed to maximise views across St Austell Bay. We presented to and were cross-examined by the local Parish Council and, whilst the scheme was highly contentious and had received significant opposition from members of the local community, Situ8 won the Parish Council’s support. We found the use of the 3D visualisations provided by Inhaus Designs very useful for demonstrating the massing of the proposed building and its relationship to neighbouring development. The clients are now looking forward to opening their new guest house.

Update: Now a multi Award Winning boutique 6 room B&B just for adults, with mesmerising & uninterrupted sea views right on the SW Coast path for extraordinary walks, offering legendary breakfasts & exclusive…
